Team PEEK Delivers Thousands of Jackets and Gifts to Families in Glasgow

Amid a year of rising costs and continued economic uncertainty, Team PEEK has worked tirelessly to support children, young people, and families across Glasgow. As the cost-of-living crisis deepened, existing inequalities, particularly for the communities we work in, demand for our support increased significantly. While we cannot reach everyone who needs help, we are committed to doing everything we can to support as many families as possible, ensuring dignity and compassion remain at the heart of our response.

Throughout the year, PEEK prioritised families who regularly attend our sessions, while continuing to work alongside schools and community partners to provide vital support where it was needed most.

This winter also marked the launch of the eighth year of our Winter Warmer Appeal in partnership with Hub West Scotland. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the strength of collaboration, we distributed 1,051 jackets, 3,720 gifts, and 1,026 warm items to children and young people across the city.

Over the past year, PEEK has worked with more than 4,000 children, young people, and parents across our communities and schools. As demand for support continues to grow, our team remains focused on supporting as many regular PEEK attendees as possible, alongside vital behind-the-scenes work to secure funding, prepare vouchers, and deliver grants to families.

This winter period, we delivered:

  • 72 food vouchers totalling £2940

  • 25 Save the Children grants of £300 each

  • 125 Cash for Kids vouchers, with children receiving £50 each

  • 100 Celtic Foundation vouchers, with children receiving £50 each

With the backing of our dedicated funders, partners, local businesses and individual givers, we were also able to create magical experiences for families throughout the winter period. Some of these memories will last a lifetime. As we move into the New Year and beyond, PEEK remains committed to being there for families when they need us most.

Thanks to the generosity of our partners Clyde Cash for Kids, Gem Trust, Glasgow Winter Wonderland, BAaD, ATG and our fundraising efforts, the following activities were made possible:

  • 200 children attended the BAaD Party through Cash for Kids

  • 370 children enjoyed ice skating and a pantomime at Winter Wonderland

Finally, thanks to the companies and individuals that donated and fundraised to directly support our campaign:

Of course, to all the individual people who donated and helped support our communities, we can’t thank you enough.

Our CEO, Michaela Collins, said, “Thanks to the incredible generosity of our funders and supporters, we’ve been able to bring smiles, warmth and unforgettable experiences to children and families across Glasgow. Every gift, donation, and act of kindness reminds us that together, we can make a real difference in our communities. Your generosity makes magic happen every day.

From all of us at PEEK, a huge thank you to everyone who helped us support Glasgow’s children and families through our Winter Warmer Appeal. We couldn’t have done it without every one of you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Team PEEK”.
